Hi Jessica,

My understanding is that Certified Humane is endorsed by the ASPCA and the Humane Society, and that its a higher standard for animals than "cage free". I don't think their standards specifically address how workers are treated, unfortunately.

Best,
Pam

See, I was listening!!
I am wondering what you know about the Certified Humane label? The website talks about how they raise their animals but now how they are slaughtered. Just wondering?

Congrats on blogging your way into the new year! Just picked up Elliot Dorf's book that's the basis for your upcoming class on the Conservative movement's evolving views of Jewish law, and am finding it makes for fascinating reading. ("The Unfolding Tradition, Jewish Law after Sinai") Many of the names of these thought leaders are familiar, some of whom have appeared at SJCC and two of whom as rabbis at services we attended. Lshana Tovah.
